During term-time, we host school sessions Tuesday to Thursday.
Our public Incy Wincy Rhymers sessions, for newborn – 3 years run on Fridays at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm and on Saturday and Sunday at 10am. Subject to availability, check the calendar for details.
Our sessions with The Storyhunters, for children aged 3 – 8 and their families run every Saturday and Sunday at 12noon and 2.30pm. Book now. During the school holidays The Storybarn is open throughout the week, generally Tuesday to Sunday.
You can book online or pop into The Reader Ice Cream Parlour and purchase tickets on the day – subject to availability.

Travelling from Liverpool City Centre, the Arriva 75 and 76 services and Stagecoach 86C will bring you to Menlove Avenue, close to the Cromptons Lane entrance. Alternatively, you can travel by the Arriva 86, 86A or 80 to Allerton Road with a short walk via Calderstones Road.
If you are travelling from Bootle, Aigburth Vale or Queens Drive, the Arriva 61 travels via Menlove Avenue, dropping off close to the Cromptons Lane entrance.
Free parking is available at either of the two car parks in Calderstones Park. The Cromptons Lane car park is closest to The Storybarn.
The Storybarn is fully accessible, with level access at our main entrance and lift access to our first floor Imaginarium. Our Storyhunters sessions involve spending time in The Storybarn but also in the surrounding park area, if you have any specific access questions get in touch with us ahead of your visit.
Pram storage is available in the courtyard containers beside The Storybarn.
Also on site at Calderstones Park, you can visit the Reader Café and Ice Cream Parlour. There is also a bookshop with a range of pre-loved books on the first floor of the Ice Cream Parlour.

Our public sessions are a whole-family experience, children must be accompanied by a parent / guardian at all times.

CAN I EAT OR DRINK IN THE STORYBARN?
Nobody likes a sticky book, so please don’t bring any food or drinks into The Storybarn. You can always visit The Reader Café or Ice Cream Parlour before or after your session to grab a refreshment.

Absolutely, great stories work in any language! The activities in The Storybarn are suitable for children of any age and ability as our Storyhunters read everything aloud.

What happens if it rains?
During the warmer months, The Storyhunters is an indoor / outdoor experience, so make sure you are check the forecast and dress appropriately for your adventure.
